Setting INTERVAL and CYCLE Parameters

By design, during periods of little system activity, CA MIA waits for the expiration of a timer before accessing the control file. This timer is determined by values defined on the SETOPTION MIM statement in the MIMCMNDS member of the CA MIM parmlib. The parameters, INTERVAL and CYCLE, are supplied with default values of 1. Unless you have tuned CA MIM as described in the CA MIM Programming Guide, we recommend that these values remain set to 1. This ensures that CA MIA accesses the CA MIM control file to process important transactions that may be waiting on the control file for it to process, even on a system with relatively little tape activity.
