How You Remove a System ID

The REMOVE command tells CA MIM to remove the ID of a system from its control files because that system is no longer a part of your complex. You cannot use this command if a virtual control file is active. Use this command to remove a system from your complex that you do not expect to rejoin the complex.

To tell CA MIM that a system is being removed from your complex, issue a REMOVE command from another system. A REMOVE command causes CA MIM to purge its control file of records for that system and to remove the ID of that system from the control file.

You cannot use the REMOVE command when you are using the CTCDASD, CTCONLY, or XCF communication methods.

Specify the system name, alias, or index number of the system that you are removing on your command.

For example, to remove the ID for system 02, issue this shortened form of the REMOVE command from another system:

REMOVE 02

Important! When you issue a REMOVE command and you have defined a system name and alias for that system through a DEFSYS statement, also remove that system name and alias from the DEFSYS statement. Otherwise, CA MIM restores the system ID to the control files the next time you format the control files.
