6.2 VTS Component Data Sources

The VTS component DAY096 daily update step inputs SMF data
generated for IBM VTS and StorageTek VSM virtual tape and
BVIR data generated from IBM TS77xx systems.  The
architectural implementation of these three virtual tape
systems is different, as are the considerations regarding the
collection of SMF and BVIR data for input to the VTS
component.
 
The following sections provide information about SMF record
content and the data collection requirements for each of the
supported virtual tape systems:
