10.3 File and Data Element Customization
A great amount of product tailoring can be performed by
updating the product's parameters as described in Chapter 7
of this guide. That method addresses most of the data
selection criteria. For example you can control what kind
of ERDS information you wish to keep by setting appropriate
options in SRLOPS.
Tailoring the data base, as explained in Chapter 6 of the
CA MICS System Modification Guide, is at the next level of
detail. For example, deleting certain data elements of a
file, adding others, creating a file in time-spans that are
not normally supported, and modifying the CA MICS archive
process are not changes that can conveniently be made by the
novice user.
Such changes to CA MICS are not to be taken lightly. The
integrity and usability of the entire CA MICS Data Base can
be compromised by such changes. Therefore, thorough testing
and verification is an absolute must.
Following the guidelines in Chapter 6 of the CA MICS System
Modification Guide will help you tailor your CA MICS Data
Base. If, after you read that chapter, you still have a
question on the feasibility or practicality of some intended
change, please call the CA MICS Product Support Group for
assistance.
