6.2.3 Outboard Recorder Record (OBR)

This record contains I/O error information and statistical
data.  There are two forms of outboard recorder records:
short form and long form.

The short form records statistical data for the devices with
the exception of tape drives.  The long form of the OBR
record includes, in addition to the information contained in
the short form, information regarding permanent unit checks
which are I/O errors that could not be corrected by the
system's error recovery program.  A long OBR record also gets
written when the dynamic pathing availability facility
encounters an error while changing the state of a path group.

The record types are 30, 34, 36, 3A, and 3C.
