5.1 Data Element Naming Conventions
CA MICS data elements follow naming conventions that depend
on whether they are standard or common data elements.
Standard data elements use the first three characters of
their name to identify the file in which they are defined.
The following charts list the three-character prefixes with
which the standard data element names begin and the files in
which they are contained.

NOTE: The VCA_VS and VCADCS files are called parallel files
because they contain the same elements as another
file. For these files, the first three characters
of the data element names are not the same as the last
three characters of the file name.
Common data elements do not use a data element prefix. They
have a common definition across database information areas
or across files within an information area. You will find
common data elements listed under Sequence/Summary Data
Elements and Common Data Elements in the Data Elements List
sections that follow.
