4.2 Determine Data Needed to Answer the Question
Once you have a precise question, you must determine the data
required to answer the question. This too is usually an
iterative process.
First determine what variables must be processed. Then ask
such questions as "What is the time period to be examined?"
or "What is the summarization level?"
Next determine if the data is in the MICS database or if it
has to be computed from data in the database.
