Uses

The processor chip design of IBM z10 and later generation CPCs includes cryptographic coprocessor chips that service cryptographic function requests issued by workloads executing on the IPUs. Many modern applications, particularly those servicing web based transactions, require data encryption. To avoid delays, it is important that encryption requests do not experience high blockage rates.

The charts generated by this RMFCRL query provide the information necessary to monitor the data encryption demand of each LPAR, and to identify LPARs that are experiencing unacceptable percentages of blocked requests. Shifting workloads to other LPARs or adding additional logical processors IPUs to an LPAR can help alleviate elevated blocked function percentages.
