7.3.8 Network Application Table (NETAPPL)
The Network Application Table is used to identify
applications that are part of application-to-application
(APPL-APPL) sessions.
NETAPPL affects the SNTPSU file from the NPM Session data
source, the NVSNSC File from either the NetView Session
Monitor/NLDM or CA NetMaster NTS data source, and the SNTNAC
file from either the CA NetSpy or NPM network session
accounting or network gateway accounting data sources.
The format of this table, NETAPPL, is described below. To
determine whether or not a given session is an APPL-APPL
session, the code compares the secondary logical unit (SLU)
name against entries in the NETAPPL table. A match indicates
that the logical unit to logical unit (LU-LU) session is an
APPL-APPL session, and the local device flag is set to A.
The local device flag is used in conjunction with CA MICS
Accounting and Chargeback to differentially charge for local,
remote, or APPL-APPL sessions. Section 7.3.6 discusses
differential billing using this flag.
Use the worksheet provided in Figure 7-11 to define NETAPPL.
Once the worksheet is complete, transfer the information to
prefix.MICS.PARMS(NETAPPL). The rules for completing the
worksheet are as follows:
o Each statement may contain a single application
identifier. All other fields are considered comments.
o Comments statements are permitted. An asterisk (*) in
the first column indicates that the entire statement is
a comment.
o Blank lines are ignored.
o The application name is the same as the one defined on
the VTAM APPL statement.
A sample NETAPPL member is shown below:
