7.3.5 Link TP Circuit ID Exit (SNTCIDRT)
This section explains how to code the teleprocessing (TP)
Circuit ID for those CA MICS Network Analyzer files
containing data with LINK name as a major sequence/summary
variable. This information permits people responsible for
hardware maintenance to quickly identify the TP Circuit ID
associated with a failing link, thus reducing problem
reporting and hardware outage time.
The SNT Link TP Circuit ID Exit is a user-written routine
that is invoked for the following Analyzer files:
o NCP Link (SNTNCL) File
o NPM Link Activity (SNTNPL) File
o NLDM Link Activity (NVSNLL) File
The exit is invoked prior to writing observations to these
files. Just before calling this user exit, CA MICS sets the
variable FILEID equal to NCL, NPL, or NLL so that the exit
can determine the source of the link data in the exit code
before assigning a value to the Link TP Circuit Identifier
(LNKTPCID).
LNKTPCID is a 14-character variable which is initialized from
link name and other variables in each of these files. The
variables which may be important in setting LNKTPCID in each
file are:
o SNTNCL File
. NCPNAME - Network Ctl Program Name
. NETNAME - Resource Network Name
(always the Link Name in this file)
. NETWRKID - Network Identifier
. SYSID - System Identifier
o SNTNPL File
. NETWRKID - Network Identifier
. PLUSA - Primary Logical Unit Subarea Name
. SLULINK - Boundary Link (Line) Name
. SYSID - System Identifier
o NVSNLL File
. NETWRKID - Network Identifier
. PLUSAPU - Primary Logical Unit Subarea Physical Unit
. SLULINK - Boundary Link (Line) Name
. SYSID - System Identifier
The Link TP Circuit ID exit routine is written in SAS code.
The testing and accuracy of the exit routine is your
responsibility. A sample exit is provided in
prefix.MICS.PARMS(SNTCIDRT). The worksheet for structuring
this exit routine is shown in Figure 7-8.
