6.7 Error Recording Data
Error recording data may reside on either disk or tape. The
disk can be either a CMS format minidisk or a VSE format DASD
volume. If the data is on VSE DASD, it is read from the VSE
EREP history file, not from the error recording file. The
types of error recording data processed are:
o VM EREP history files
o VSE EREP history files
o VM error recording data files (XAEREPxx RECORD
files)
Error recording data is contained in variable length records.
VM error data files (XAEREPIO RECORD and XAEREPMC RECORD)
contain header information not in the EREP history files.
The records have the following format:
o RDW DS H Record descriptor word
DS H Reserved
o XAHDR DS XL2 VM header data
o RECDID DS XL1 Record identifier
The XAHDR field is only available in VM error data files and
is stripped off the data as a part of data transfer.
