1.3 Program Requirements

The modules of the Data Transfer Program operate in CMS and
in MVS.  They are written in assembly language, REXX, CMS
EXEC language, and the SAS language.

Installing and operating the VM Data Transfer Program
requires familiarity with MVS and ISPF, as well as VM, CMS,
and XEDIT.  CA MICS System Administrators who are not
familiar with the VM operating system will require assistance
in that area.

The required system software levels in VM are:

    o  z/VM 3.1 or later
       CMS Release 17 or above.

       - This provides REXX and other CMS facilities at the
         required levels

    o  RSCS Version 1, Release 3 or above.

       - This is normally optional, and is required only when
         NJE facilities are selected by the VM Data Transfer
         Program.

    o  Assembler

       - If either the H Assembler (the HASM command) or the
         High Level Assembler (the HLASM command) is not
         available, the free VM Assembler is used. If both
         HASM and HLASM are available, HLASM is used.


The required system software levels in MVS are:

    o  SAS System Version 8.2 or 9.3.

    o  JES2 or JES3 with NJE support.

       - This is normally optional, and is required only when
         NJE facilities are selected by the VM Data Transfer
         Program.
