1.1 Features

The VM Data Transfer Program helps to address the operational
aspects of moving VM data to the system where CA MICS is
installed. It provides the following features:

o Handles VM Account data, VM Monitor data, and
     CA VM:Account data.

o Handles data from NetSpy, NPM, NetView, and NET/MASTER
     originating in VM systems.

o Adds a system identifier to NetView and NET/MASTER data
     originating in VM systems.

o Handles VM and VSE Error Recording (EREP) data.

  o Handles VSE/POWER Account data.

o Provides the DIAGNOSE interface code necessary to read
the VM Monitor spool file and decode the data so it can
be made available to other analysis programs such as the
CA MICS VM and CMS Analyzer.

o Writes the VM Monitor spool file to a standard label
tape (or minidisk file), using a sequential file format
that can be processed by other VM or MVS programs.

o Translates the VM Monitor spool file into standard VM
virtual punch format so the data can be transferred to
another system through an NJE network.

o Reformats MONWRITE data into virtual punch format and,
subsequently, into variable record format for processing
     under the SAS language.

o Provides data compression, resulting in a smaller amount
of data to be transferred through the NJE network.

o Provides a group of CMS REXX language procedures and
related programs that allow you to automate the
processing of various data sources so manual
intervention in the transfer process is eliminated.

o Selects the record types to be processed by the VM Data
Transfer Program, thus allowing you to control the
volume of data that is transmitted to the CA MICS VM and
     CMS Analyzer.

  o Backs up VM data.
