6.2.6 Configuration Record Requirements

The CA MICS Analyzer Option for VM/CMS requires Domain 1
configuration records to maintain data integrity and provide
static information for the VM system, such as device and
processor configuration, base measurement data (memory,
paging, monitor, and user). Certain monitor records are used
to report any exceptions that may occur on the VM system or
the monitor, such as monitor suspend events, changes in
monitoring, and CPU capability changes.

If the source of your monitor data is from Velocity Software,
you need to ensure the configuration records required for CA
MICS are contained in the extract file from ESAWRITE to CA
MICS. Due to high data volume, your VM systems programmer
may decide not to collect device configuration and I/O
activity information. If that is the case, the Domain 6 and
Domain 1, Record 6 configuration records are not collected.

The VM Transfer Program allows monitor records to be selected
for transmission to z/OS. You must also take into
consideration the Domain 1 configuration records that are
selected to be sent.

The list below should be used to determine the Domain 1
configuration records required by the CA MICS Analyzer Option
for VM/CMS. Also note that certain non Domain 1 records are
dependent on configuration records to provide complete VM
system statistics.

The table below can also be used to decide which VM and CMS
database files can be deactivated or activated when
configuration records are dropped.

The Required column has three options:

YES - Should not be dropped from the input data

NO - Can be dropped from the input data

COND - Should be dropped if related domain records are
       dropped
