The JCLNeat component of CA JCLCheck reformats input JCL by aligning columns and reordering JCL keyword parameters according to user‑defined tables.
You can control JCLNeat through processing features, formatting options, and table‑driven keyword ordering. JCLNeat stores the new reformatted JCL back in the appropriate JCL library for future use of the JCL and reduces the number of errors made.
JCLNeat reformats z/OS JCL to user-designed specifications. JCLNeat performs the following functions:
You can input JCL from the following various sources: a sequential input stream, a partitioned data set with many members (such as a Procedure Library), or a CA Librarian or CA Panvalet source management library.
JES3 and operator command control statements pass unchanged into the reformatted JCL. JCLNeat defines valid JES3 control statements in a table within JCLNeat. If an installation adds JES3 control statements, modify this table to ensure that their control statements are not reformatted by JCLNeat. For information, see Special Usage Considerations.
Note: JCLNeat is not intended for JCL validation. Although it detects certain incorrect or illogical JCL coding conditions, it expects clean JCL at input, or unpredictable results may occur. We recommend that you validate JCL with CA JCLCheck prior to and after reformatting with JCLNeat.
