Provisioning Accounts from Other Applications

The decision to implement provisioning depends on the type of information that you need to manage. If you are managing a central user directory and you do not want to manage user accounts in other systems, you do not need provisioning. If you want to manage user accounts over a variety of systems, then you should implement provisioning support.

Provisioning capabilities are provided through the Provisioning Server, which is integrated with CA IdentityMinder. The Provisioning Server provides the following functionality for account provisioning:

Note: Provisioning information is stored in a Provisioning Directory. If CA IdentityMinder maintains users in another type of directory, your deployment will include a CA IdentityMinder user store and a provisioning directory.
