Configure a Connection in CA Identity Manager

You configure a connection to CA RCM to enable Smart Provisioning functionality, including the following:

Note: To see Smart Provisioning functionality and configuration options in the User Console, you must configure a connection to CA RCM.

As part of configuring the connection, you also map CA RCM attributes to CA Identity Manager attributes. These mappings allow CA RCM and CA Identity Manager to share information.

To configure a connection to CA RCM

  1. Log in to the User Console as a user with system management privileges.
  2. Select the System tab.
  3. Select CA RCM Connection Management, Configure an RCM Connection.

    Note: Do not use other connection tasks in the User Console to create the connection to CA RCM.

    A screen that allows you to enter connection information opens.

  4. Enter the following information about the system where CA RCM is running:
    Host

    The fully qualified name or IP address of the system where CA RCM is installed.

    Port

    The port number for CA RCM.

    User ID

    The name for an account that has privileges to access CA RCM.

    Password

    The password for the account specified in the User ID field.

    Secure Connection (HTTPS)

    Enables an HTTPS connection between CA Identity Manager and CA RCM.

    Note: You must have SSL configured to secure the connection between CA Identity Manager and CA RCM.

  5. Enter the following information about CA RCM:
    Configuration

    The name of the configuration in CA RCM that CA Identity Manager communicates with.

    Universe

    The name of the universe in CA RCM that CA Identity Manager communicates with.

    A universe is a virtual location in CA RCM that encompasses the data collected from CA Identity Manager.

    Note: You create a universe and configuration in the CA RCM Portal. For more information, see the CA Role & Compliance Manager Portal User Guide.

  6. Click Test Connection to verify that CA Identity Manager can connect to CA RCM.

    CA Identity Manager displays the connection status at the top of the screen.

  7. Map CA RCM attributes to CA Identity Manager attributes as follows:
    1. Enter the name of the RCM attribute that you want to add in the Add Attribute Mapping field, and click the add icon.

      CA Identity Manager adds the attribute to the CA RCM Attribute Mapping table.

    2. In the text box next to the RCM attribute that you added to the table, enter the name of the corresponding Identity Manager attribute.
    3. Specify the attribute display name. The display name is configured in the directory configuration (directory.xml) when the Environment is created.
    4. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each attribute mapping you want to add.
    5. Click Submit.

      CA Identity Manager updates the connection information with the new attributes.

  8. Click Finish.

    CA Identity Manager can now successfully communicate with CA RCM.
