The automatic method of packaging performs a reference installation of the product, on the reference system on the Packaging Computer, and records all changes made to the reference system during this installation.
If any program during reference installation attempts to make an entry to the Add/Remove Programs option of the Windows Control Panel, this entry will be suppressed by the reference installation, and not recorded. The reason is, that the software should be managed exclusively by Software Delivery, and not by single users from their desktops.
After the reference installation is completed, the reference system is reset to its original state. However, this is not possible, if the installed product has been modifying files that are subject to Windows File Protection. In this case, the product remains on the computer, that is, the reference system has been changed.
When using the automatic method of packaging software products you can choose between two modes:
