The environment on the Packaging Computer is called the reference system. The reference system is used during the packaging process on Windows to install the product to be packaged as if you were going to use it on that computer.
The reference system includes the file system, installed services, and the registry of the Packaging Computer. Additionally, you can configure the reference system to customize the product you are going to package, that is, you can specify additional files, installation parameters, and make other necessary changes.
