VMware ESX is a data center virtualization platform. The VMware ESX server does not run on top of a third-party operating system, but contains its own kernel called the vmkernel. Multiple virtual machines can run on a single VMware ESX server. A virtual machine is a tightly isolated software container that can run its own operating systems and applications as if it were a physical computer. A virtual machine behaves exactly like a physical computer and contains it own virtual (that is, software-based) CPU, RAM, hard disk and network interface card (NIC).
VMware ESX Server 3.5 and 4.0 are supported by the AM remote agent.
