The resources and conventions used in your existing network environment affect how you deploy BusinessObjects Enterprise. This section serves as a checklist of criteria to help you plan your deployment, with resources provided for areas that you may need to investigate further.
Different deployment options are available to you, depending on the operating systems, web application servers, database servers, and authentication method you plan to use. Other conventions used in your current environment may also affect how you deploy BusinessObjects Enterprise, such as security, performance monitoring, and design for high availability. This section provides a high-level overview for assessing your environment prior to deployment.
Because BusinessObjects Enterprise is deployed in a networked environment, you must verify connectivity between all computers and verify that DNS names can be resolved correctly. Use the ping command to verify network connectivity and DNS name resolution.
Note: Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is supported in BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3. For information about IPv6 networking, see IPv6 Networking.
