INVALID EXTERNAL PICTURE SPECIFIED FOR FLOATING POINT DATA FIELD.

Reason:

The external picture for a floating point field is not in floating point format. The mantissa must conform to the following rules:

A sign (+ or -) must be the first character in the mantissa
A short form floating point field can contain from 1 through 8 numeric positions; each position is expressed by a 9
A long form floating point field can contain from 1 through 16 numeric positions; each position is expressed by a 9
An optional decimal point can be inserted; the decimal is represented by a period (.)

The exponent must conform to the following rules:

The first character must be the letter E
The second character must be a plus (+) sign
The final two characters must be the two-position exponent value; no more than two characters can be included in the exponent
