Step 3: Associating Security Names with Groups

Assigning group IDs allows Fran Snell to define a single SRT entry for the group instead of defining individual entries for each user in the group. This would allow her to limit access to Forrest and White instead of just Forrest.

At validation time, the system automatically creates SRT entries for each member of the primary group but not for members of subgroups within the group. In order to associate a group ID with the security name for the APPLICANT table, follow the same steps used to assign a security name and WHERE criteria to an individual user. The only difference is that you specify a group ID in the GROUP field rather than a user ID in the USER field.
