Active Directory (AD) is a Microsoft directory service for storing information about network-based entities, such as users, groups, applications, files, and printers. It is the central authority that manages the identities and brokers the relationships between these distributed resources, thereby enabling them to work together. It is a mechanism for managing the identities and relationships of the distributed resources that make up network environments. Since Active Directory is the central authority for network security, enabling the operating system to verify a user's identity and control access to network resources, it is the natural point from which to download users, groups and resources information into CA GovernanceMinder.
After performing role discovery, analysis, definition and audit in CA GovernanceMinder, you can export the new roles, and other changes that were made in the configuration, back into Active Directory.
