Accessibility Features

CA Technologies is committed to ensuring that all customers, regardless of ability, can successfully use its products and supporting documentation to accomplish vital business tasks. This section outlines the CA GovernanceMinder accessibility features that are available in the following areas:

Note: The following information applies to Windows-based and Macintosh-based applications. Java applications run on many host operating systems which may already have assistive technologies available. These assistive technologies need access to programs written in JPL using a bridge between their native environment and the Java Accessibility support within the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). This bridge is slightly different for each platform due to differences between the JVM and the native platform.

Display

Font style, color, and size of items

Defines font color, size, and other visual combinations.

The CA DataMinder iConsole also supports a High Visibility mode. This increases the size of text and images in the iConsole screens.

Screen resolution

Defines the pixel count to enlarge objects on the screen.

Cursor width and blink rate

Defines the cursor width or blink rate, which makes the cursor easier to find or minimize its blinking.

Icon size

Defines the size of icons. You can make icons larger for visibility or smaller for increased screen space.

High contrast schemes

Defines color combinations. You can select colors that are easier to see.

CA GovernanceMinder offers the following additional support for accessibility capabilities.

Content not color dependent

Color coding is not used to convey information that indicates an action, prompts a response, or distinguishes a visual element.

Color and contrast settings

The user can adjust color and contrast settings, a variety of color selections capable of producing a range of contrast levels are provided.

Content readable without CSS

Are documents organized so they are readable without requiring an associated style sheet?

Text links for server-side image maps

Are redundant text links provided for each active region of a server-side image map?

Use client-side image maps

Are client-side image maps provided, instead of server-side image maps (except where the regions cannot be defined with an available geometric shape)?

Link purpose

The purpose of each link is clear from the link text alone or context, such as a heading.

Headings and labels

Headings and labels describe the topic or purpose. Descriptive headings help users navigate and orientate themselves within the content. Descriptive labels help ensure users do not make mistakes."

Language of page

The default language of the page is detectable by the computer program.

Consistent identification

Components that have the same functionality within a set of web pages are identified consistently. This requires text alternatives being consistent throughout the document, and consistent labelling of form controls and table headers.

Parsing

Elements have complete start and end tags, are nested according to their specifications, elements contain unique.attributes and identifications.

Visible focus

Clear indication of the current focus of the UI is displayed that moves with the UI as the input focus changes. The focus is exposed so that Assistive Technology can track focus and changes.

Consistent meaning of bitmap images

Bitmap images used to identify controls, status or other program elements are used consistently throughout the application.

Overriding color and contrast

Applications retain all user selected contrast and color selections and other display customizations.

Sound

Sounds can be adjusted to be more audible or distinctive and used as an alternative to visual cues. The following options are user adjustable:

Volume

Sets the computer sound up or down.

Text-to-Speech

Sets the computer's hear command options and text read aloud.

Warnings

Defines visual warnings.

Notices

Defines the aural or visual cues when accessibility features are turned on or off.

Schemes

Associates computer sounds with specific system events.

Captions

Displays captions for speech and sounds.

Functional text for scripts

Pages that use scripting languages to display content or to create interface elements provide information with functional text that can be read by Assistive Technology.

Keyboard

The following keyboard adjustments are available to enable better assistance

Repeat Rate

Defines how quickly a character repeats when a key is struck.

Tones

Defines tones when pressing certain keys.

Sticky Keys

Defines the modifier key, such as Shift, Ctrl, Alt, or the Windows Logo key, for shortcut key combinations. Sticky keys remain active until another key is pressed.

Textual display by OS functions

Text information provided through operating system functions for displaying text. Text content minimum information text input caret location, and text attributes.

Keyboard access

Product functions are executable from the keyboard and these functions are textually discernible

Consistent navigation

Navigating UI elements such as drop down lists does not causes another page to open.

Frames are titled with text that enables AT identification and navigation.

All UI information, structure, and relationships use elements such as headings, paragraphs, lists, and so on, to provide structure.

Accessibility features of operating systems that are documented and developed according to industry standards.

Text equivalents are available for every non-text element.

Mouse

You can use the following options to make your mouse faster and easier to use:

Click Speed

Defines how fast to click the mouse button to make a selection.

Click Lock

Sets the mouse to highlight or drag without holding down the mouse button.

Reverse Action

Sets the reverse function controlled by the left and right mouse keys.

Blink Rate

Defines how fast the cursor blinks or if it blinks at all.
