How to Customize Workflow Behavior in the CA GovernanceMinder Server

CA GovernanceMinder implements each item in a workflow by creating a job based on a Workpoint process. Create a customized Workpoint process to customize the behavior of each item.

The set of all possible tasks in each CA GovernanceMinder business workflow dictates a set of required Workpoint processes for the workflow, one process to handle each type of task. You can customize any subset of these processes.

In the CA GovernanceMinder portal, map a set of processes to each business workflow. You can then apply this set of customized processes to business workflows.

To customize the behavior of a business workflow, perform the following steps:

  1. In Workpoint Designer, clone and modify the default Workpoint processes that handle the tasks you want to change.

Each process implements a single type of task. The following process-level field identifies the CA GovernanceMinder task context associated with a Workpoint process:

    Implements

Specifies the workflow task that a Workpoint process implements. CA GovernanceMinder creates a task context that exposes parameters and interactions relevant to the task.

Note: The value of this parameter defines the only task to which you can map the process. To ensure correct mapping of this parameter and other parameters, base your new process on a copy of the standard process for the task.

  2. In the CA GovernanceMinder portal, upload the new processes to the CA GovernanceMinder Workpoint database.
  3. In the CA GovernanceMinder portal, define a new process mapping for the workflow. Specify your customized Workpoint processes for the tasks you want to change.
  4. Implement the new process mapping as follows:
