How to Capture an Image-Copy
When capturing an image-copy of databases, it is important to establish a point at which the entire set of tables is consistent. Use one of the two following procedures to establish that point of consistency and to perform the image-copy.
Procedure 1
- Stop the databases then start them in Utility status. (To ensure a point of consistent recovery, no updates are allowed during image-copy.)
- Run CEUCOPY (or alternatively CAUCOPY) to execute the DB2 COPY utility to take a full image-copy of all Encyclopedia tablespaces.
- Start the databases in Read/Write to resume normal processing.
Procedure 2
- Run CEUCOPY (or alternatively CAUCOPY) in Read/Write status.
- Use the DB2 QUIESCE utility to establish a point for consistent recovery (a LOG/RBA).
