CA Gen allows applications to access the currently opened model through a mechanism known as a "plug-in". This concept lets an application register itself so that the CA Gen toolset knows where it is and how to call it. A menu item will be added to the CA Gen "Plug-in" menu so that the application may be started directly from the toolset. Parameters are passed to the plug-in application indicating what diagram started the application, the main object in the diagram, and any objects that may be selected.
