Record Layouts

Record layouts provide a powerful symbolic view of your file data for both record selection and formatted data display. For record selection, record layouts provide a simple symbolic method for typing selection conditions using field definitions instead of record offsets and data types. For displaying data, they add context and clarity by separating your data into individual fields and formatting the value of each field based on its definition.

CA File Master Plus supports two basic types of record layouts, ordinary layouts and custom record layouts.
