Upgrades and Migrations to Federation Manager r12.1 SP3

An upgrade is an update to a new version of Federation Manager on a single system already running Federation Manager. A migration is a replicated configuration on a newly installed Federation Manager system.

You can upgrade or migrate Federation Manager r12.1 SP3 based on these available paths:

Windows

• Upgrade: r12.0/r12.0 SP1/r12.1 to r12.1 SP3
• Migrate: Windows 2003 environment to Windows 2008. Set up a new Windows 2008 system and then migrate your Windows 2003 configuration to the new system.

Solaris

• Upgrade: r12.0/r12.0 SP1/r12.1 to r12.1 SP3

FIPS Migration

Federation Manager supports migration from a non-FIPS to a FIPS-only environment; however, the migration process is complex. If you want to migrate from a non-FIPS to a FIPS-only environment, first complete the upgrade to Federation Manager r12.1 SP3. After a successful upgrade, follow the FIPS migration process.
