The NODELETE parameter prevents an IDCAMS DELETE from being performed with IDCAMS DEFINE. The DELETE parameter causes RESTORE to delete an object so that it can be redefined. However, when there is no object with the same name in the catalog, the delete fails. Use NODELETE when defining in a different or empty catalog to avoid an unnecessary delete. If the object exists and NODELETE is specified, the define fails and the restore fails.
