CA EXTEND/DASD is the CA VSAM data set compression package. CA FAVER works with CA EXTEND/DASD for z/OS by backing up the CMPPRM and CMPTBL members along with any compressed clusters. This helps guarantee a good backup because the cipher is in synchronization with the compressed data on the backup.
CA EXTEND/DASD is needed to use the CA FAVER CA EXTEND/DASD interface. CA FAVER tries to locate GVAXGVD, the interface module that comes with CA EXTEND/DASD for z/OS. If it is not available, CA FAVER does not attempt to back up the CA EXTEND/DASD information. If GVAXGVD is available, CA FAVER exports the CMPPRM and CMPTBL members. Messages are generated to say whether any members have been exported to the CA FAVER EXPORT file. No parameters are needed to use this interface.
