Set Model Type, Template, and Database For Reverse Engineer
The first step to reverse engineer a database or script file is to indicate the model type, template, and database. These choices affect the options that are displayed on the Reverse Engineer - Set Options dialog.
Follow these steps:
- Click Actions, Reverse Engineer.
The New Model dialog opens.
- To create a blank model, complete the following fields:
- Select Logical, Physical, or Logical/Physical.
- Select the target database and its version number.
- Select <Default> for Template.
- To create a model that is same as an existing model, complete the following fields:
- Select Match template.
- Click Browse Files or Browse Mart and select a template model from your local computer or Mart.
Note: If you are not connected to the Mart and you click the Browse Mart button, a dialog prompts you to connect to the Mart. Connect to the Mart to select a template model from Mart.
- To create a model that is same as an existing model, but of a different type, complete the following fields:
- Select Logical, Physical, or Logical/Physical.
- Select Match template target server.
- Click Browse Files or Browse Mart and select a template model from your local computer or Mart.
- To create a model that is based on a template, complete the following fields:
- Select Logical, Physical, or Logical/Physical.
- Select the target database and its version number.
- Click Browse Files or Browse Mart and select a template model from your local computer or Mart.
- Click Next.
The Reverse Engineer - Set Options dialog opens, where you select options for reverse engineering specific objects and properties.
