Split a Logical/Physical Model

You can split a logical/physical model into an independent physical model and logical model to separate your modeling tasks.

When you choose Design Layers, Split Model from the Actions menu, you are prompted to save the new logical model. The physical model remains open in the workspace. The original logical/physical model remains unchanged.

Your new physical model includes the physical model objects, such as columns, tables, indexes, views, triggers, and stored procedures from the original logical/physical model. Your new logical model includes the logical model objects, such as entities, attributes, and key groups from the original logical/physical model.

Your new logical model serves as the model source for the new physical model, allowing you to synchronize the two models in the future.

Use the Windows menu to toggle between the two models.
