Specify the Logical Data Type for an Attribute

You can use the options in the General tab of the Attribute Editor to specify the logical data type for an attribute.

To specify the logical data type for an attribute

  1. Right-click the attribute on the diagram for which you want to specify a logical data type and click Attribute Properties.

    The Attribute Editor opens.

  2. Click the General tab.
  3. Specify the values for the following options:
    Logical Data Type

If the selected data type requires a value for precision, scale, or both, enter the value inside the data type parentheses. You can also click the Inheritance button to either inherit, override, or harden the attribute's data type. This button changes to provide you with a visual cue of the current inheritance setting for the attribute data type.

    Null Option

Displays the attribute null option. Change the null option using the drop-down control. You can also click the Inheritance button to either inherit or override the attribute's null option. 4. Click Close.

The logical data type is specified for the attribute and the Attribute Editor closes.
