Set Relationship Cardinality

You can set relationship cardinality to represent how a parent entity within a relationship is connected to a particular number of instances of the child entity.

To set relationship cardinality

  1. Click Relationships on the Model menu.

    The Relationships editor opens.

  2. Select a relationship from the Relationship drop-down list, then click the General tab.

    The General tab opens.

  3. Specify one of the following cardinality options for the selected relationship, then click OK.
    Zero, One or More

    Specifies that each parent entity is connected to zero, one, or more instances of the child entity.

    One or More (P)

    Specifies that each parent entity is connected to one or more instances of the child entity.

    Zero or One (Z)

    Specifies that each parent entity is connected to zero or one instance of the child entity.

    Exactly

    Specifies that each parent entity is connected to an exact number of instances of the child entity. Enter the exact number of instances to connect the parent entity to the child entity.

    Relationship cardinality is set and the Relationships editor closes.
