Compare Two Data Models

You can compare two data models using Complete Compare. In this example you work with an open model in the workspace and compare it to a saved version of the same model.

Note: You can start a Complete Compare session even if no models are open when you click Complete Compare, Compare on the Actions menu.

To compare two data models

  1. Open one of the models you want to compare, then click Complete Compare on the Actions menu.

The Complete Compare wizard opens, on the Right Model Selection pane.

  2. Click Load... to browse for the second *.erwin file. Select the model and click Open.

The model opens in the workspace and is now selected as the "Left Model" in the Complete Compare wizard. Both models are now open and can be updated in real time.

  3. Use the options in the Complete Compare Wizard to set the compare level and filter by objects for either model.
  4. Click Compare to start the compare process.

The two models are compared, and the Resolve Differences dialog opens.

  5. Use features in the Resolve Differences dialog to compare and reconcile any detected differences between the models.
  6. Click Finish.

You return to the Complete Compare Wizard. You can change any options in the wizard and begin the compare process again, or click Close to close the wizard.

    The Close Models dialog opens.

  7. Select or clear the check boxes to save or close the models. Click OK.

The dialog closes and you return to the main workplace.
