When you use a transform to refine a model, the historical information for each model object that the transform creates is maintained. You can select a model object that the transform creates in a logical or physical model and review the model objects that are used to create the object.
For example, if a CUSTOMER entity appears in a logical model, when you derive a physical model from the logical model, the CUSTOMER entity creates a CUSTOMER table. In a physical model, you can apply a transform to vertically partition the CUSTOMER table. The vertical partition of the CUSTOMER table automatically changes the original CUSTOMER table and creates a new ADDRESS table:
After you apply the transform, a link is maintained between the CUSTOMER entity in the logical model and the CUSTOMER and ADDRESS tables in the physical model. To see that the original source of information for the CUSTOMER and ADDRESS tables is the CUSTOMER entity, you can click the History tab in the Tables dialog.
