Sysparm IOTRACKS is set to less than the number of tracks in a cylinder.

Reason:

Setting the sysparm IOTRACKS to a value less than the number of tracks in a cylinder causes Backup, Archive, and Restore jobs to issue more read/write requests to the DASD device. This causes the job to run slower and use more processing time and CPU resources. This exception will be cleared when this check runs again after the job causing the exception is changed and runs, or after the job statistics are older than the number of days specified in the AGE parameter for this health check.

Action:

Set the sysparm IOTRACKS to cylinder size (15) or allow the default value of 30. This allows Backup and Archive jobs to better utilize the I/O resources and reduces run time.

Note: If the value of the sysparm IOTRACKS is smaller than the number of tracks in a cylinder, increasing the value will use more storage and may require the above-the-line REGION for the job or job step to be increased by as much as 700K.
