Reason:
These messages are issued during Merge when ARCTNAME is specified with a value of U. This sysparm is valid only during Archive or Backup when either ARCCTYPE is set to NULL, or when ARC0NAME and ARCCNAME are set to different values.
If either message is issued, CADisk forces the default value of D for ARCTNAME, which ensures a unique DSNAME will be created for each output archvol. This process avoids SVC99 errors that will occur when more than one tape is requested at the same time with identical DSNAMEs.
