INVALID LAST USE DATE (nnn) FOR DATA COMPONENT (ddd) ON VOLUME (vvv) - IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH CLUSTER (ccc). A DEFAULT LAST USE DATE OF 2155.366 WAS USED
Reason:
A selection criterion of USEDT was specified on a SELECT or EXCLUDE command, causing CADisk to retrieve the format-1 DSCB for the data component of cluster (ddd) on volume (vvv). This is where the last use date is stored for clusters defined in an ICF catalog. However, the format-1 DSCB contained a hexadecimal date of (nnn), which CADisk assumes to be invalid. The data component is associated with base cluster (ccc). This condition can be caused by one of the following:
- The cluster is defined in a user catalog and was defined as UNIQUE, causing a format-1 DSCB to be written for the data set. However, the last use date in this format-1 DSCB is never updated and therefore should always contain binary zeros. If the catalog named on the SCAN CATALOG= command is not an ICF catalog, the USEDT reference is invalid and should not be used.
- The data set being referenced is defined in an ICF catalog, but either the last use date support has not been implemented, or the data set was explicitly bypassed for last use date updating. In order to implement datestamp processing for VSAM clusters defined in an ICF catalog, the datestamp control module (IDATMSTP) must be replaced in IDA0192B with another module that sets a return code of 4. See the IBM OS/VS Virtual Storage Access Method Programmer's Guide for further information regarding this exit (updated by TNL GN26-0906 on 27 Feb. 1981).
When this condition is encountered, a last use date of 2155.366, is assumed for the cluster. This will prevent the cluster from being archived based on an invalid last use date.
