Working with DMM Templates
Template Editor gives you the flexibility to customize your DMM templates. Remember the following points while working with the Template Editor:
- The template file has selections that do not exist on your computer. For example, if you select users to migrate, you can add domain or local users that do not belong to your computer or network.
- All the applications that the CA DMM migrates are displayed to indicate if they exist on your system.
- Directories that are not on your system but appear on other systems can be added.
- All the criteria allow you to add from a selection list to the template by clicking Add or Add Option for each migration criterion. You can also remove items that are in a template by selecting the item and clicking Delete.
- If you select a parent item in a tree, such as background, the template always picks all the items under background even after more items are added or appear on that computer.
- If you pick all the children of an item, the template migrates only selected items. The parent is disabled indicating that all the child items are not selected. The new items that appear on other computers are not migrated.
- Do not use the (%) symbol in the template file name. Template files fail to load if the file name contains a % symbol as it is an invalid character.
- Do not use DMM variables, use Windows system variables in the template file names.
