Getting Started with DMM Direcotr

You install DMM Director with CA DMM and launch it from the Start menu.

DMM Director consists of three components:

Director Setup

Guides an administrator through the automatic creation of a basic migration process based on your input. Director Setup presents a series of questions and gathers the information needed to create two migration files, one for the source system and one for the destination system. It also does the following:

Director Setup creates a process for a simple migration. If additional options must be added to accommodate your process, edit the migration files using the DMM Options Editor.

DMM Director Migration File

Specifies all the details of one or more executions of CA DMM and is passed to AutoDNA for execution. The options defined in the Migration file work with the options contained in the template file and CA DMM to perform the migration process you have configured. Sample Migration files are included with the DMM Director software. Use them as a starting point for customizing your automated migration process. If you want to further customize the migration process created by Director Setup, edit this file in the DMM Options Editor.

AutoDNA

Performs the migration as specified in the Migration file. When AutoDNA.exe is executed on the client system, it displays the CA DMM user interface as defined in the migration file, and completes the migration.

This help file contains information on Director Setup, the Configuration File, AutoDNA, and is linked to the entire CA DMM help system.
