Create a DMM Migration File

DMM Director uses a migration configuration file to perform automated migrations. You can create a new Director Migration file using the DMM Options Editor.

To create a Director Migration file, follow these steps:

  1. Open the DMM Options Editor from the Start menu.

    DMM Options Editor opens.

  2. Click File, New, or click the New toolbar button.

    The New dialog appears.

  3. In the New dialog, select DMM Migration Options, and then click OK.

The Configuration File Options appears. The tree in the left pane of the DMM Options Editor contains a Migration section followed by the complete DMM Options file.

  4. Click Migration Options in the tree in the left pane.

The right pane of the DMM Options Editor displays the Migration Options.

  5. You can make any changes necessary to meet you migration requirements.

The Migration Options contains all the DMM Options in a subsection to the Migration Options.

  6. You can make changes to any of the options by clicking the option section you want to edit in the left tree view of the DMM Options Editor.

The options you can edit appear in the right pane of the DMM Options Editor.

  7. You can add multiple passes for a migration by right-clicking the Migration File section in the right pane of the DMM Options Editor. You can then select to add another migration pass before the current section, or after the current section.
  8. When you have completed editing the Migration File, click File, Save or File, Save As to name and save the changes made. Or, click the Save toolbar button.

You can use this file to replace the DirectorSource.dmx migration file or the DirectorDestination.dmx file in the migration directory created by the Director Setup wizard.

Note: The DirectorSource.xml and DirectorDestination.xml files have been changed to DirectorSource.dmx and DirectorDestination.dmx files. This lets you double-click these files and open them in the DMM Editor.
