Provide Domain Migration Information

The Provide Domain Migration Information page lets you provide the source domain and the destination domain information. It includes the new domain name and the user credentials to join the same. You can also enter the user credentials required to remove the computer from the old domain. Optionally, a new computer name can be entered if the existing computer needs to be renamed while switching the domain.

To provide the domain migration information

  1. Enter the source domain information in the following fields under Source Domain:
    Name

Defines the name of the old domain.

Note: This field is populated by default.

    User

Defines the user name required to remove the computer from the old domain.

    Password

Defines the password for the user.

    Old Machine Name

Defines the name of the old computer.

Note: This field is populated by default.

  2. Enter the destination domain information in the following fields under Destination Domain:
    Name

Defines the name of the new domain.

    User

Defines the user name required to add the computer to the new domain.

    Password

Defines the password for the user.

    New Machine Name

Defines the name of the new computer. You can change the computer name based on your domain policies.

Note: By Default, the New Machine Name field displays the old computer name.

  3. (Optional) Select the Verify User Credentials check box if you want to verify specified user credentials (source and destination). If you provide incorrect information and try to proceed to the next page, a message box appears asking you to enter the correct information.

Note: The verification functionality works only if there is a trust relationship between the source domain and the destination domain (entered in Steps 1 and 2).
