Add a Domain User

If you want to migrate domain users that do not exist under the All network user profiles on the source machine tree item in the Users Selection tab, you must add such domain users.

Note: You must have full administrator privileges to migrate multiple users in Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

To add a domain user

  1. Click Settings, Users in the left pane.

    The Selection tab appears.

  2. Expand the All network user profiles on the source machine tree item.

All the network user profiles (including Active Directories and NT domains) in the computer (which runs the DMM Template Editor) are listed.

  3. Expand the domain under which you want to create the user.

Note: If the domain does not exist, first add the domain.

All the users in the domain are listed.

  4. Click Add User.

A New User item is added under network profiles tree item.

  5. Edit the user name and press the Enter key.

A new domain user is created and enabled for migration.

  6. (Optional) Click Passwords.

The Password options for new accounts dialog appears letting you specify how you want to the passwords to be defined for the new accounts that CA DMM creates

Important! When you attempt to migrate one or more users to a new or different domain, you must be a Domain Administrator. If you migrate User Profiles associated with domain accounts (or Active Directory accounts), you must ensure the user logged in at the time of migration has administrative rights locally and is a member of the Domain Administrator group. Having a user with these permissions logged in during migration allows the creation of accounts on the domain if you are changing domain membership.
