How AutoDNA Performs the Migration
AutoDNA.exe is the executable that reads the migration file and executes CA DMM to perform the automated migration process as defined by the administrator. The AutoDNA.exe for the source and destination is located in the migration directory. Distribute these executables by copying them from the migration folder to a local folder or the local desktop. AutoDNA can be run simultaneously by multiple computers.
The following is the process AutoDNA uses to perform the migrations.
AutoDNA.exe is executed on the source or destination system.
Internet Explorer
Library Install
- AutoDNA checks the DDNAInstall option for the path to the CA DMM installer. If the DDNAInstall option is empty, the default is to use the installer in the Migration directory (the location of the AutoDNA.exe).
Access to CA DMM
- AutoDNA checks the DDNAExecutable option to obtain the path to the CA DMM executable.
- If the DDNAExecutable option is empty, AutoDNA checks the DNAInstaller and DNAInstallScript options. If these two paths are defined, CA DMM is automatically installed on the workstation.
Migration
- In a deferred migration, a new DDNAOptions.dmx file is automatically created in the local temp file. The command line and file options are replaced with the options specified in the migration file.
- If the AskUserDialog and AskUserVariable options are specified, AutoDNA displays a dialog containing the prompt text specified in the AskUserDialog option. The user’s input is then used to set an environment variable to use as specified in the migration file.
- The migration is initiated, and the migration is completed as configured.
Migration Completion
- When CA DMM finishes the migration, AutoDNA checks for the return code value (also written to the Director Log file). If the return value is anything other than normal (1 or 2), AutoDNA checks the ErrorHandlingWarn, and ErrorHandlingAbort options and either warns the user or aborts the migration.
- If the return value is normal, AutoDNA exits, and the migration is complete.
