The CREATE AREA and CREATE DATABASE statements, and the associated statements ALTER AREA, ALTER DATABASE, DROP AREA, and DROP DATABASE, are new CA Datacom/DB SQL Data Definition Language (DDL) statements in Version 15.0. For more information, see the CA Datacom/DB SQL User Guide.
We recommended that a COMMIT be issued immediately after using SQL DDL statements to create areas or databases. Changes to the Directory (CXX) are committed when they are applied, but In SQL, the CA Datacom Datadictionary and DDD can become out of synch if a ROLLBACK function is executed after the successful execution of a DDL statement. Issuing a COMMIT after using a DDL statement keeps the CA Datacom Datadictionary and DDD in sync.
The syntax of the CREATE TABLE statement now allows the specification of an authorization ID with the area in which the table is created.
Note: All of the attributes applied to the DATABASE and AREA are already in use and defined in the CA Datacom Datadictionary Batch Reference Guide and the CA Datacom/DB Database and System Administration Guide.
