CA Datacom strives to provide 24x7 support. When an application needs to add data to a VIRTUAL database area but that area has become full, 24X7 operation is threatened. To minimize that threat, CA Datacom Version 15.0 supports the dynamic extension of VIRTUAL database areas. Previous releases only supported dynamic extensions for DASD data sets.
DYNAMIC_EXTEND is a console-like command that is used to perform on-demand dynamic extends while the DASD data set or VIRTUAL database area to be extended is open and the MUF is being used. Prior to Version 15.0, the DYNAMIC_EXTEND console-like command only applied to DASD data sets. For details, see DYNAMIC_EXTEND in MUF Startup Options and Console/Console-Like Commands.
