Whenever the workstation user or an application must choose a data source name, and the name is left blank, the Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager uses a data source named Default. To use the default, tell the workstation user to configure a data source named Default that specifies the data source options necessary for that user and tell the user to always leave the data source name blank when asked for a data source.
